AroMed's jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis), is commonly referred to as an oil, but is actually a liquid wax. It is most commonly used in salves, massage blends, salt or sugar scrubs, and/or as a primary carrier in natural perfumes and therapeutic roll-ons. According to Parker," Jojoba was originally developed in the 1970s as a commercial product to replace sperm whale oil. A few visionaries promoted "Save the Whale" campaigns to replace sperm whale products with a land based substitute." Jojoba grew in popularity from there.
Jojoba is an AroMed product staple as it is an excellent oil for the skin. It is unscented, emollient, regenerative and toning. It has a balancing effect on skin and can be used successfully with both dry and oily skin types. As a liquid wax, it resists oxidation and rancidity, so spoilage and expiration dates associated with other carrier oils is not a concern with jojoba. It maintains its integrity for years.
