Oregano

Oregano - AroMed's Origanum vulgare is organically grown and the leaves are distilled in India. It is in the lamiaceae botanical family, and is a base note with a strong, spicy, herbaceous aroma. (just like the herb, but much stronger)

Uses:

  • Oregano is a powerful germ buster, effective against many bacteria, viruses and fungal invaders that can negatively impact health.
  • There is evidence to suggest oregano has strong antioxidant benefits.
  • It is considered an immune stimulant, and particularly useful when addressing respiratory system infections, like colds, flu, whooping cough and bronchitis.
  • Can be useful when addressing digestive disruptions, like indigestion and diarrhea.
  • Oregano can be added to blends for chronic rheumatic discomfort.
  • Oregano is high in a chemical family called phenols, and should be used with great care. Our oregano is pure, undiluted, essential oil. It can be skin sensitizing and should be diluted at no more than a 1% dilution (5 drops per 1 ounce/30 ml carrier). It is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Individuals with clotting disorders and/or on anticoagulant drug therapy should not use oregano. Do not use with children under 6 years of age. Use this oil mindfully. It is a powerful essential oil and not meant for casual use.

Blends well with- basil, fennel, geranium, lemongrass, palmarosa, thyme, tea tree, rosemary

Notes of interest- Please note that there is a product called Oil of Oregano (which has already been diluted in a carrier oil) and there is Oregano Essential Oil, which is what AroMed offers.

Modes of Application- massage, compress, bath, salve, direct inhalation, diffuser, steam inhalation

Safety data- Skin sensitization is possible if using old and/or oxidized oils. Essential Oils are typically used via inhalation and/or topical application while properly diluted.
