Lavender

LavenderAroMed's Lavendula angustifolia is also referred to as "true lavender", is organically grown in the Himalayan Mountains of India, and the flowering tops are steam distilled. It is in the Labiatae or lamiaceae plant family, is a middle note and has its renowned sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma.

Uses-

  • What doesn't lavender do! Its versatility is unmatched. It is commonly know for its benefits to skin, and can be used for insect bites, burns, acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and wounds.
  • It's analgesic qualities  make it a useful addition to blends that address muscle and joint aches and pains.  
  • Lavender is the ultimate stress reducer, having a harmonizing effect on the nervous system. It can be helpful when addressing manifestations of stress, like spasms and cramping, pain, headaches, nervous tension, irritability and mental fatigue.
  • A go-to for insomnia, particularly when it is associated with hormonal changes, anxiety or mental chatter.
  • It is popular in women's health, particularly for menstrual cramping (10 drops in 1 ounce massage oil, rub on lower abdomen and cover with hot compress). Also used during child birth to decrease anxiety and decrease pain.
  • It is also used in respiratory applications for colds, flu, bronchitis and throat infections.

Emotional Support - lavender can encourage security, gentleness, compassion, vitality, clarity, comfort, acceptance, awareness, reconciliation and emotional balance.

    Blends well with- Angelica root, bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, roman chamomile, german chamomile, clary sage, clove bud, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, grapefruit, juniper berry, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, marjoram,  palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, ravensara, ravintsara,  rose, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, vetiver, ylang ylang

    Notes of interest- Lavender is a commonly adulterated essential oil. Know your source! We purchase directly from an established and reputable grower/distiller in India, widely know amongst the legitimate aromatherapy community for integrity, quality and honesty.

    Modes of Application- massage, compress, bath, salve, lotion, direct inhalation, diffuser, steam inhalation, skin care

    Safety data- Skin sensitization is possible if using old and/or oxidized oils. Essential Oils are typically used via inhalation and/or topical application while properly diluted. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified aromatherapy practitioner to address a specific health need, for a specified period of time. Keep away from children and pets.
