Basil (Sweet)

Basil (sweet)- Ocimum basilicum ct linalool- Our sweet basil is organically grown, steam distilled leaves and flowering tops from Egypt. It is in the labiatae or lamiaceae plant family and is a top note with sweet, spicy, sharp, warm aroma with woody undertones.

Uses-

  • Basil ct linalool is commonly used in digestive blends to manage gastric spasms, vomiting, nausea and hiccups, too.
  • A "cephalic" oil, basil is effective at aiding nervous exhaustion, clearing brain fog, increasing focus while sharpening mental acuity. It is a primary ingredient in AroMed's "focus" blend!
  • Basil is a great for respiratory issues like asthma, whooping cough, bronchitis and flu related to its antispasmotic qualities.
  • Also can be useful for abdominal cramping, and delayed or scant menses.

Emotional Support- basil encourages positivity, purposefulness, concentration, assertiveness, trust, integrity, enthusiasm and strength.

Blends well with- bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, fennel, ginger, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, marjoram, rosemary

Notes of interest- Only basil of the linalool chemotype is recommended for aromatherapy. Safety concerns exist with other basil oils related to their chemistry

Modes of Application- massage, compress, bath, salve, direct inhalation, diffuser, steam inhalation

Safety data-  Avoid while pregnant or if you have epilepsy. Skin sensitization possible if using old and/or oxidized oils. Essential Oils are typically used externally through inhalation and topical application while properly diluted. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified aromatherapy practitioner to address a specific health need, for a specified amount of time. Keep away from children and pets.
